As part of Milan Fashion Week, the Italian house Prada presented its spring-summer 2023 collection on Thursday, September 22. And if we are to believe the first fashion critics, it is a wardrobe that is a little less daring than as usual, but nevertheless successful, presented by designers Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons. A somewhat explosive sartorial sobriety with the ultra-dramatic stage decor designed in collaboration with director Nicolas Winding Refn (known for the film “Drive” and the “Pusher” trilogy) but above all with the beauty look signed by the make-up artist British Pat Mcgrath who did not escape our discerning eye. And for good reason, by opening the ball, the first model – dressed in an oversized square suit jacket with a fitted waist over super-skiny pants – directly set the tone by displaying extraordinary XXL false eyelashes. A beautification of the most mystical gaze, therefore.
False eyelashes in all their states
At Prada, the fake eyelashes thus made their revolution. Affixed to the upper eyelids of the models, the extensions cut in different ways – sometimes at an angle, sometimes symmetrical, sometimes ultra-straight – all without exception displayed an excessive and unusual length. Pointing downwards in particular, they sometimes even covered the eyes of the models. How to tread the catwalk, then? Hard. But the question that comes to mind as a beautista remains: are we supposed to adopt the trend next summer? There, nothing is less certain. If the artistic prowess is remarkable, the allure of a demonic brown that this beauty look would bring to our style leaves us skeptical. Not certain therefore that we will reproduce it one day… except for our halloween makeupmaybe.
