The hair routine varies greatly from person to person. While some can’t help but wash their hair daily, others are content to clean it once a week and space out the washes with dry shampoo. Yet, there seems to be a common mistake that many make when it comes to washing their hair: how to apply conditioner. Fortunately, Ricky Walters, a professional hairstylist from London, has shared his tip for boosting the effectiveness of his conditioner with a few very simple gestures.
Here’s how to apply your conditioner
The mistake that many of us make? Apply our conditioner right after rinsing out the shampoo. Indeed, applied to soaked hair, the conditioner has no use. “Long hair can hold a huge amount of water which then dilutes your conditioner, leaving you with just a watery residue,” the hairstylist told the UK version of ‘Mirror’ magazine. The right way to do it? Sponge her hair for two minutes with a microfiber towelbefore applying your conditioner. We favor gentle gestures and we avoid rubbing the lengths at the risk of damaging them. Then, apply the conditioner to the lengths and ends and leave the product to act for the time indicated before rinsing thoroughly.
