Since 2019, the artistic director of the house of Celine embarked on olfactory creation, thus reconnecting with the tradition of the couturier perfumer. His inspirations, the brilliant jack-of-all-trades finds them in the most personal corners of his memories. He created an olfactory diary where, on each page, a name and a composition translate an associated intimate memory. Parade, Saint-Germain-des-Prés, French Cologne, Dans Paris… so many names evoking Parisian sophistication, which have managed to find a place for themselves in haute-parfumerie.
Mix of genres
This time, the baby (which joins the ten other marvels of the collection), sounds like a fairy tale: “Bois Dormant”. But make no mistake, we are not in the marshmallow. We dive into a moment of lifeHedi Slimane. He’s 19 and scours London for an impeccably cut second-hand suit from Savile Row. In a neo-classical and architectural composition, the scents envelop us in the luxurious comfort of English flannel thanks to powdered accents of iris butter. The woody structure of cedar and vetiver, all in lightness thanks to a cologne with a delicate bitterness, is underlined by juniper and bergamot. As on each of his creations, voluntarily mixed, mingle powdery masculine and feminine notes with complex accords, such as a counterpoint to its minimalist fashion. Hedi’s fashion signature can be read more easily in the design of the modernist rectangular bottle, in line with the great tradition of French glassware. A design making each model an object that we enjoy exhibiting.
Bois Dormant is currently available exclusively in the Celine Haute Parfumerie boutique on rue St Honoré (Paris) and in the Haute Parfumerie Celine Pop-Up store at La Samaritaine (from September 7 to October 26) It will then be available exclusively in boutiques. CELINE and on CELINE.COM.
